Are you curious?

Well, since this tribe is a little active post-Club Risque....

A couple of us that have experience with dungeon play and many things BDSM are thinking of having some sort of round table (or round the floor) discussion to answer questions. Are there some of you interested in such a thing? i know i spoke to a few people at Club Risque that were curious but i couldn't carry on a conversation due to the..well..you know...VOLUME. Whatcha think? Wanna ask questions in a safe space?

I'd drive for that... isn't that sorta what a munch is, though?

A munch? Not if we do this at someone's home which is the idea. The munch is great and we never miss it but ANOTHER opportunity to talk to people..isn't that sorta fabulous?

ah, an in-home sorta thing. well, I imagine that could lead to a much more customized conversation... less to worry about, involving other people listening in on conversations. easier to tailor a chat to someone's particular questions, and if there're enough people around, easier to allow demonstrations. Yeah, I think that's a good idea. I'd certainly like to check out one or two... if you give me a month's notice, I have a better chance of trying to attend, too.

I know I'd love to hear and see how the group up there plays... may I attend? please?

I hear two separate ideas in that, kelly. One is a sort of 101-roundtable, for curious people to come and freely ask questions and get answers. I'd be down for participating in that. A tribe that has no room for its elders nor room for its new members to ask questions and bring fresh blood is a tribe doomed to die.

I also hear something about more experienced players getting together to klatsch. I'm down with that, too. And we face the same things we have before in this community: a place, a time, and willing bodies. :) Munches are *great* for getting together and chatting it up, but many would prefer to discuss more intimate aspects of things in private.

I'm in an incredibly busy phase of life right now. Most all my time is spoken for; free time doesn't exist for me. But, as we all do, I *make* time for Important Things. Community education is one of those things for me. I'd be willing to teach a 101 class, or be part of a panel (there's so much diversity in players that many voice are a good thing).

I'd point out another thing, too: in some ways, it's easier for people to ask questions when they can see something going on--like at a party in a dungeon. Amenable settings open the mind. That's why it so critical to have trained people on the ground, to facilitate that kind of reaching out and touching each other. Sometimes, when that unique door-between-the-worlds setting is gone, that door closes and people inquire no further.

I'd suggest a panel/round table, informal, at someone's house, to start. Invite the curious. See where it goes. In fact, kelly, now that I think about it, this might be a really good thing to do soon, before people concretize in their minds that what happened at the last CR was a dungeon, and that's just how things are. I shudder to think of the consequences of 'nillas who treat SM so disrespectfully or of budding kinksters who see a space like that as how it's done. And as we all know, it's easier to create a good new habit than break an existing one!

another potential bonus... if we make an official business, for-profit or otherwise, we could consider the classes in your livingroom to be a business expense, ergo a tax-deductible write off. just a thought.

As per usual, I agree with Deborah. And I'd be willing to sit on a panel. Of course, my free time right now is minimal, so time would have to work out, too.

I'm leaning towards the private thing in someone's house. personally, I love eavesdropping in restaurants, so I don't think such dicussions should occur at a munch. However, a semi-public place would be okay (such as a picnic at Redwood Park where we could talk but not be overheard) initially in case there are people yet too shy to go to someone's house.

Unfortunately, I leave the decision-making up to others as I'm not in a place in my life where I can become too intricately involved in anything outside of what's running my personal life right now. But I'll help any other way I can!

Well it looks like we have our "experienced players"...for the asking of questions and such. *thank you guys*

I have a space that we can use if it is a small gathering of 20 or less. A cozy place to chat that is not in the public eye.

So the next question is when? How about sometime the weekend of the 10th/11th? Perhaps early afternoon to miss dinner and those who have social plans? 2pm? Thoughts?

We should put a call out to the Munch list, as well as the CR discussion list to gather more possible interest.

If anyone knows of others new to the scene folk let them know...we all started at the beginning :) It is great to see interest in sharing the love.

        Hugs,
        K

at this moment, that weekend is available to me. however, I'm preparing to move in the next couple weeks, don't have a move date yet, and may have to change plans at the last minute. otherwise, my housemate might be interested in attending. apparently he's been curious about the bdsm lifestyle for a while... I'll let him know about that weekend, and see if he's interested.

let's plan on us showing up, and I'll let you know if anything changes, as the time draws near.

my cousin is also interested in learning about the lifestyle, and meeting a few of the people I've been posting/chatting/otherwise socializing with. he's going to have the day off on the 11th. if that's a sunday, it'll be perfect for me too. we can head up from Ft Bragg any time after 9am. I figure that'll get us up there around noon... on the other hand, if we can find a place to stay Saturday night, we could be there for a saturday eve event, as well. either way, please count me in, and if it's the 11th, him also.

So it sounds like Sunday the 11th in the afternoon will work.

Ok, so 11/11 (Sunday) If people start showing up by 2:30 that means everyone will be here around 3pm.

Well, it looks like we are getting some interest in our little gathering. A number of new names are popping up with interest. :) I had a couple of hits from the CR discussion list. Still have not heard from those who have expressed interest here on Tribe.

For directions please email me :) *wickedpxy@yahoo.com*

So far we have about 9 people, we still have room for a few more.

                Next Sunday, 2:30pm.

Thanks! Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

The munch should have a lot of new people this time...i've been out harvesting some new folks.

Pink..one suggestion would be for you to attend the munch this coming Monday, 12/3. It's at Chapala's in Old Town at 6:30, upstairs. There should be more things coming up. I know that MasterM and I have been having small gatherings with informal presentations. This is a busy month, but we'll pick it up again very soon as interest continues to grow.
